Advancing Macomb's Fall Breakfast 2017

Advancing Macomb hosted its third Annual Meeting on Nov. 16 at Macomb Community College's South Campus in Warren. More than 200 guests enjoyed breakfast, networked with Advancing Macomb board members, and heard from business and public sector leaders from around Macomb County.

The event raised money for Belle Isle’s Beachfront Revitalization Project, which will add a splash park, picnic area, and parking to where the island’s waterslide once stood.

McLaren Macomb's Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center 10th Anniversary

On Oct. 3, doctors, administrators, and patients marked the 10-year anniversary of comprehensive cancer care at the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Macomb's Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center in Mt. Clemens. The Cancer Center was started by the late Ted Wahby, former mayor of St. Clair Shores and Macomb County treasurer, and a group of doctors at the Mt. Clemens hospital.

Life Remodeled 2018 Six Day Project at the Durfee Innovation Society

Life Remodeled, a Detroit nonprofit that invests about $5 million in cash, labor, and materials in one Detroit neighborhood each year, invested in the Durfee Innovation Society for its 2018 Six Day Project in early October. Life Remodeled leased the formerly unused Durfee Elementary-Middle School and re-purposed the building into a community innovation center that offers space for nonprofit organizations and businesses to co-locate, share resources, and achieve greater community impact. About 10,000 volunteers worked on the space and surrounding neighborhood during the six-day project.

Oktoberfest Fundraiser at Birmingham Country Club

First American Title Insurance Co., PM Environmental, Integra, and PEA Inc. hosted an Oktoberfest Gathering on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Birmingham Country Club. More than 100 guests enjoyed networking, drinks, and appetizers. A 50/50 raffle was held to support St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen in Detroit.
