Detroit Medical Center (DMC) has announced that Brittany Lavis has accepted the role of CFO of the Detroit market. In her new role, Lavis reports directly to Anthony Tedeschi, CEO of DMC.

“Brittany’s strong commitment to accountability and her desire to improve internal controls make her a great choice for our market,” says Tedeschi. “Brittany will lead our finance teams to ensure that our fiscal structures and processes are aligned with our DMC Cares vision of maximizing resources for patient care using the tenets of best practice and adherence to industry standards.”

Lavis previously served as CFO of Placentia-Linda Hospital in California, where she improved revenue cycle metrics with a focus on accountability and streamlining processes to reduce nonvalue added activities. She also undertook an improvement project focusing on identifying the causes of late charges and identified a holistic solution to address the problem. Lavis was also selected as Group CFO for all hospitals in Tenet’s Southern California Group, which includes seven hospitals with annual revenues of $1.7 billion.

Prior to her position at Placentia-Linda Hospital, Lavis was assistant CFO at Atlanta Medical Center in Georgia and worked at Piedmont Medical Center in South Carolina.

Lavis earned her bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in South Carolina and her Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University School of Business in North Carolina.
