Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital in Rochester Hills has announced the appointment of cardiovascular physician Nishit Choksi as director of cardiovascular services.

Choksi has practiced interventional cardiology for more than 25 years and was instrumental in establishing the interventional cardiology program at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital in the mid 1990s.

“Dr. Choksi is a respected leader and provides his patients with compassionate and skilled heart

Care,” says Shukri David, chair of cardiovascular services for Ascension Michigan. “Under his leadership, the cardiology program at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital will become stronger, enhancing the quality of care provided to patients in the Rochester community.”

Prior to rejoining Ascension, Choksi held leadership positions at other major health systems in metro Detroit. His work has also been published in medical journals, and he remains active in teaching and research.

“Dr. Choksi’s reputation and standards for uncompromised quality are well-recognized throughout the medical community, and his presence at our hospital will undoubtedly energize the cardiology program across multiple dimensions,” says Chris Palazzolo, president and CEO of Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. “We look forward to his leadership as we continue to focus on growth in cardiology and all of our clinical services.”

Choksi is board-certified and fellowship-trained in cardiology and interventional cardiology. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training at William Beaumont Hospital.

Ascension operates 15 hospitals and hundreds of related health-care facilities in Michigan that together employ about 26,000 associates. It is the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system.
