Detroit Country Day School Adds 2 to Board of Trustees

Detroit Country Day School (DCDS), an independent college prep school, has appointed Derek T. Batts, financial advisor and attorney, and Danialle Karmanos, entrepreneur and philanthropist, to its board of trustees.

 

“As current parents and active community members, both Danialle and Derek have long been an esteemed part of the DCDS family,” says Glen Shilling, headmaster at DCDS. “We are proud to welcome Danialle and Derek to their new leadership roles and look forward to working together to support our students and school community. Each will bring a valuable and seasoned perspective to our board and lend fresh energy to our initiatives as we seek to create an extraordinary experience for our students.”

 

Batts, a senior vice president and portfolio management director of the Union Heritage Group at Morgan Stanley, was a founder of the Union Heritage Capital Management in Detroit and formerly served as vice president of the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals. Additionally, Batts serves on the board of trustees for the Music Hall Center for Performing Arts located in Detroit.

 

Karmanos is experienced in public service, video production, and various charitable causes. Karmanos is a founder of Work It Out, a program to help Detroit school children improve health, and the Karmanos Center for Natural Childbirth at Royal Oak-based Beaumont Hospital. Additionally, Karmanos is a board member of the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Michigan Opera Theater, and the Wayne State University Board of Governors.

 

Batts earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Wayne State University and a law degree from the Michigan State University College of Law. Karmanos earned her degree from Wayne State University.

Troy’s Ross Mortgage Adds Vice President, Four Other Employees

Ross Mortgage Corp., a full-service residential mortgage lender headquartered in Troy, announced the appointment of Theresa Sprague as vice president of branch growth and retention. The firm has also added Jason Sprague and his team of loan officers, Jon DeKoninck, Denise Huettner, and Tim Donner.
