Bart Bronk Named Head of University Liggett School

University of Liggett School

The University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods has elected Bart Bronk as head of school following the resignation of Joseph P. Healey. Bronk has worked for Liggett for four years serving as provost, COO, and dean of faculty.

“Bart is well respected within the Liggett community as someone who has an extensive background in scholarship and leadership, and who is able to guide the exceptional teaching and learning that is happening in every classroom and in every division and align this good work with the greater mission and philosophy of our school,” says John W. Stroh III, president of University of Liggett’s board of trustees.

Bronk’s goals as head of school are to focus on whole-child wellness and social-emotional learning, and expand the school’s regional footprint and connections to Detroit. Bronk will continue progress on Liggett’s John and Marlene Boll Campus Center.

“For nearly 140 years, University Liggett School has advanced independent school education, preparing generations of incredible alumni for lives of impact, purpose, and fulfillment in the greater world,” says Bronk.  “Today, the school is regionally and nationally renowned for our innovative approach to teaching and learning and for the ways in which we place students at the center of the learning process.

It was that approach that drew my family and me to Grosse Pointe four years ago and it is that continuing drive for excellence that has me incredibly excited to lead the school forward.”

Previously, Bronk served as director of admissions for Church Farm School and director of institutional giving and government relations at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
