The Townsend Named Among Top Hotels in Midwest

The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham was ranked No. 11 among the Top 15 Hotels in the Midwest.

The readers of Condé Nast Traveler, a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, have awarded the Townsend Hotel with the No. 11 spot on the publication’s annual Top 15 Hotels in the Midwest: Readers’ Choice Awards 2015. The hotel was one of only two Michigan properties to make the roster of distinguished regional hotels, as determined by reader scores. The other was the Hotel Iroquois on Mackinac Island at No. 10.

To receive a Readers Choice honor, properties — judged on a variety of criteria including rooms, service, amenities and more — must receive a minimum number of responses to be eligible, and earn top scores based on a mean average of all ratings on a standard five-point scale from poor to excellent.

The Condé Nast Traveler endorsement is the latest industry accolade received this year by the boutique Townsend Hotel. The property also was named to Travel + Leisure’s 2015 T+L 500 list of the World’s Best Hotels, determined by reader survey, as well as a four-star hotel by Forbes Travel Guide, and a AAA four-diamond luxury property.

“Accolades for the property based on traveler feedback are always the most rewarding, because it confirms that guests are leaving The Townsend feeling happy and well cared for,” says Steven Kalczynski, managing director of The Townsend Hotel.  “It is our goal to deliver each and every guest unprecedented graciousness and personalized service, and that effort is reflected in readers’ choice rankings like these.”
