Kidney Ball Raises $640K to Help Fight Kidney Disease

More than 800 people attended the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s Kidney Ball at the MotorCity Casino Hotel Dec. 5, raising more than $640,000 for the foundation’s programs and services that help Michigan residents living with chronic kidney disease, up nearly 25 percent when compared year over year.

“Having so many supporters gather and contribute to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s programs to support those affected by kidney disease is gratifying,” says Dan Carney, president and CEO of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. “The Kidney Ball continues to elevate its success year after year, with special thanks to our wonderfully dedicated committee and volunteers.”

The 2015 Kidney Ball featured live and silent auctions, as well as a children’s toy room where guests bid on items. The live auction featured items such as vacation packages to Italy, A VIP Detroit Tigers experience, and a Detroit Lions season ticket package. The live auction raised $92,000.

The band Fifty Amp Fuse performed and honorary co-chairs Duane McLean, executive vice president of business operations for the Detroit Tigers, and Ed J. Peper, U.S. vice president of General Motors fleet and commercial gave speeches, while guests enjoyed a meal prepared by Scott Stromer, executive chef of MotorCity Casino Hotel.
