WARREN — Scott Shuptrine Interiors in Royal Oak is hosting renowned photographer Monte Nagler for a trunk show and book-signing event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Nagler is a student of photographer Ansel Adams and says his experiences with Adams inspired him to pursue a career in photography. “It was during that period of intensive work (that) I realized making photographs is a way to experience beauty instead of just looking at it,” he says.

A noted lecturer, teacher, Nagler is the author of six books: How to Improve Your Photographic Vision; Statements of Light; Monte Nagler’s Michigan; Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand — A Photographic Journey; Amos Walker’s Detroit (co-authored with Loren Estleman); and Quartets — Photographs in Visual Harmony.

His work can be found in the Detroit Institute of Arts, the University of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Museum of Art, the Center for Creative Photography, the Brooklyn Museum, and elsewhere.
