Foley Attorney Promoted to Colonel in U.S. Army Reserves

DETROIT — The U.S. Army Reserves has promoted Foley law firm partner Jeffrey Kopp to the rank of colonel.

With this promotion, Kopp will take command of the 91st Legal Operations Detachment, a Chicago reserve unit comprised of about 100 judge advocate attorneys and paralegals. The unit provides legal assistance to reservists located in the Midwest, principally in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Iowa. Kopp was selected by the Judge Advocate General Officers Screening Committee.

Kopp, of Grosse Ile, is in the litigation department in Foley’s Detroit office, where he is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice, the Automotive Industry Team, and the Trade Secret/Non-Compete Task Force. He is active in local and state bar activities and serves as a director on the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Board.

Previously, Kopp was an  associate with Dykema Gossett in Detroit and Gray Cary (now DLA Piper) in San Diego, Calif.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Army War College.
