PONTIAC — Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County is hosting its first signature fundraiser from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Townsend Hotel. There will be entertainment by world-renowned musician Alexander Zonjic and a program on hidden poverty in Oakland County — one of the nation’s wealthiest counties.

“This year, our goal has been to help more people find safe and affordable housing, through our efforts to rebuild Oakland County,” says Tim Ruggles, executive director/CEO, Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County. “This event is the first time we will invite the many communities within our county to come together and pool our efforts to help raise up everyone living around and near us. We are one, connected community with a vision of everyone having a decent place to live.”

Joyce Russell, director of development & Partnerships, is spearheading this event. She has gathered a committee of Oakland County residents, including Susie Mansoor, Virginia Alan, Pam Boutrous, Janet Haddad, Renee Jonna, Kristine Olson and Carole Larson Wendzel. Marie Osborne from WWJ AM 950 will emcee the event.

Committee Chair Susie Mansoor is working with Habitat. “I was surprised when I heard the statistics — an affluent community having so many low-income people and such awful housing situations. Every person and every family needs a safe and decent home to live in — that leads to family stability, pride and physical safety for everyone living in that home. It is my goal to do everything in my power to secure safe, affordable housing for everyone in Oakland County,” said committee chair, Susie Mansoor.

The cost of this event is $175, patron; $250 Benefactor admission. RSVP: 248-338-1843 Ext. 226 or joycer@habitatoakland.org
