Tim Hortons Added 20 Shops in Metro Detroit in 2012

DETROIT —Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop is celebrating a successful 2012 with the opening of 20 new traditional and non-traditional restaurants across metro Detroit.

The company added stores in: Detroit, Dearborn, Monroe, Roseville, Macomb, Utica, Birmingham, Clinton Township, Auburn Hills, Southgate, Highland Park, Redford Township, Troy,  and Ann Arbor. There were four shops opened in Detroit, three in Clinton Township, two in Dearborn, and two in Redford Township. A Troy location opened in mid-November at 507 E. Big Beaver and a second location is opening next week at 1905 E Maple Rd.

The U.S. restaurant chain first opened its doors in Detroit in 1997 and now has more than 125 area restaurants and a large restaurant owner group—all of whom live and work in the city.

The brand has formed strong community partnerships including serving as the official coffee of the Detroit Zoo, Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings, Michigan State University, and the University of Michigan.

“Our momentum in the U.S. has never been stronger,” said Mike Meilleur, executive vice president Tim Hortons U.S. “We are excited to start 2013 being more convenient with a number of new restaurants and serving even more guests.”

The number of new restaurants includes traditional full-serve locations, as well as non-traditional restaurants located in local universities, theme parks, sporting and entertainment venues and convenience and grocery stores.

Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop was recognized by industry trade publications for its 2011 new restaurant growth, including named as the fourth fastest growing chain (ranked by percentage of unit change) by Technomic. Zagat, the leading global restaurant review organization also ranked Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop among the top five in the Quick Refreshments category for Top Decor, Top Service and Top Overall in its Annual Diner Survey of U.S. Restaurants.

As of September 30, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop had 755 restaurants in the United States. The bakery cafe chain operates across 11 states and on five U.S. military bases.
