Severstal North America Adds New Employees

DEARBORN — Severstal Norht America appoints Saikat Dey chief strategy and procurement officer, effective Dec. 15. In this new role Saikat will have responsibility for the strategy, business planning and purchasing functions of the company. Saikat joined Severstal as vice president, Strategy and Business Development, in 2011 from McKinsey and Company, where he served as associate principal in the Global Energy and Materials practice.

“Saikat’s balanced approach to turn complex analysis and research into common- sense conclusions, coupled with his insightful, innovative and practical solutions to challenging business issues, well prepare him for this new role,” said Sergei Kuznetsov, CEO, Severstal North America. 

Saikat Dey replaces David A. Howard, who is appointed plant manager, Double Eagle Steel Coating Co. and will report to the joint venture’s Board of Directors. “Dave brings a wealth of experience to this important position at Double Eagle, which will permit him to continue advancing our electro-galvanized products and technologies,” Kuznetsov commented. 

Howard replaces Jason Pond, who is appointed manager, Engineering and Construction, Severstal Dearborn. Jason replaces  David Morris, vice president, Engineering and Construction, who is retiring after twenty-seven years of service with the Company.

“Dave’s contributions have been significant and include his work on the construction of the new C Blast Furnace, PLTCM and Hot Dip Galvanizing Line. We extend to Dave our best wishes as he enters this new chapter of his life,” Kuznetsov concluded.
