APACC Salute to Excellence 2012

The Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce held its Salute To Excellence Award Dinner on Oct. 11 at The Henry in Dearborn. Tony Tomczak, DTE Energy's director of supply chain management, gave the keynote address.

First-ever Ramen Battle at Slurping Turtle

Slurping Turtle hosted its first-ever ramen battle in Ann Arbor on July 26. Luciano Del Signore of Bacco in Southfield, Andy Hollyday of Selden Standard in Detroit, Eve Aronoff of Frida Batidos in Ann Arbor, and James Rigato of The Root in White Lake competed for a $2,000 prize donated to a charity of their choice. Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association 29th Annual Charity Golf Scramble

The Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association held its annual golf scramble at the Cherry Creek Golf Club and Banquet Center in Shelby Township on July 13. The event raised funds for scholarships and equipment for broadcast school programs and students.

Badger Freight Tracking App Launch Party

Troy-based Badger held a launch party for its new logistics management mobile app at the Century Grille Restaurant at the Gem Theatre in Detroit on July 16. Badger CEO Parker Stallard spoke at the event about the development and growth of the Badger Freight Tracking app. Attendees were tracked through the app as they walked to demonstrate its functionality.

Incredible Science Machine Launch

The Incredible Science Machine used more than half a million objects to create a chain reaction in an attempt to set the World Record for the largest Rube Goldberg Machine at the Michigan Science Center on July 18. The group is waiting for official word from the Guinness Book of World Records to see if they broke the record.
