Village of Milford Installs 6 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

1956

MILFORD — The Village of Milford now offers access to six charging stations at no charge to users. The stations are located in the East and West public parking lots in the center of the downtown district. The Village of Milford is 2.5 square miles, nestled in southwest Oakland County, and can be accessed from both I-96 and M-59.

The Village of Milford Parking Authority secured the charging stations through Coulomb Technologies ChargePoint® Network, a provider of comprehensive electric vehicle public charging infrastructure. Funding for the six ChargePoint™ charging stations was provided through the United States Department of Energy, as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The charging stations were installed by ChargeNow, 5725 Dixie Highway Waterford, Mich.

The ChargePoint Network provides Milford visitors 24/7 driver assistance, station locations, station availability, reservation capability and trip mapping, from anywhere there is an Internet connection at http://www.mychargepoint.net. Additionally, the ChargePoint Network can be downloaded to your iPhone, Blackberry or Android.

Milford’s charging stations provide 7.2 kW (208/240V@ 30A) Level II charging and are available for up to two hours per day. Charging is delivered via a standard SAE J1772™ connector and 18-foot cable. Due to their placement between two parking spots, the six charging stations have the capacity to charge up to 12 electric vehicles.
