Mon Jin Lau starts the Western New Year off with a “Bang” as they Celebrate the Chinese New Year

Troy, MI, Jan. 20, 2011 — In China, the New Year celebration lasts 14 days and begins on the Chinese New Year, and ends with the Lantern Festival. Going into their 42nd year in business, Mon Jin Lau Restaurant in Troy, MI is celebrating Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rabbit, with a two day spectacular event sponsored by Belvedere Vodka.

On Tuesday, February 8th, Mon Jin Lau will have the traditional Lion Dance, tableside Magicians, a spectacular Firecracker display, Fortune Tellers, and Asian Martial Arts. Done annually, this is the best Chinese New Year celebration in Metro Detroit. A multi-course menu features Mon Jin Lau’s award winning cuisine. Samples from last year’s menu include Braised Rack of Lamb, Kobe Steak, Chili Miso Glazed Black Cod, and China Blue Crab Cakes, just to name a few. The event has one seating only at 7PM and the cost is $89 which includes tax/gratuity. Reservations are confirmed with a credit card, and all sales are final.

On Wednesday, February 9th, Mon Jin Lau’s weekly event (Shanghai Wednesdays), that has attracted over 200 of Metro Detroit’s elite every week for over 4 Years will be celebrating the Lantern Festival. 6 DJ’s will be on hand spinning House and Top 40 music, with a live percussionist. DJ’s include residents Matt Aubrey, Tom T, and special guests Captn20, Mike Anthony, Prevu and Tom Keeling. Tone will be on percussions. Due to the size of this event, Mon Jin Lau will provide a heated tent that is sponsored by Belvedere Vodka.
