The Detroit Zoo’s mobile bidding option for the Sunset at the Zoo silent auction has started. Bidders can submit offers in advance on their smartphones through GiveSmart and need not be present at the event on Friday to participate.
More than 40 silent auction items are up for bid at the event, including front-row seats for a Detroit Tigers game, a night’s stay at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, shopping sprees, and a chef-prepared sushi and sake night at home.
A strolling dinner will be offered with more than 50 local restaurants and distributors, desserts, and specialty drinks. The event will also feature themed activities, such as a breakfast with the butterflies, mingle with the macaronis, “rendezvous with the rhinos,” and Penguin Palooza, which will celebrate the zoo’s new Polk Penguin Conservation Center.
Supporter tickets for the 21-and-older event are $175 per person; patron tickets are $300 and include a VIP reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday.
