NORTHVILLE — DataFactZ has partnered with the Wayne State University College of Engineering’s Big Data and Business Analytics Group, providing a $40,000 seed research grant to the organization. The grant will fund a Ph.D. student and support other Wayne State data scientists’ theoretical research.

“Detroit has seen an influx of innovative technology companies in recent years, and we are proud to have called the region home for more than ten years,” says Krishna Kallakuri, CEO of DataFactZ.

DataFactZ also worked with the Big Data and Business Analytics Group to create the Michigan Spark Users Group for individuals interested in the development and use of the Apache Spark platform. Spark is an open source processing engine, delivering sophisticated big data analytics for business use. DataFactZ is one of only ten companies certified as both a Spark Systems Integrator and Spark Training Partner.

“Apache Spark has quickly become the largest open source community in big data with over 500 contributors,” says Satyendra Rana, CTO of Loven Technologies and organizer of the Michigan Spark Users Group. “The goal of the user group is to help businesses to remain on top of the latest developments in big data technology to maintain a competitive edge. We will be bringing top data professionals to user group meetings to ensure Detroit’s data community is informed and ready to develop innovative solutions with Spark.”
