DETROIT – Buddy’s Pizza has raised over $10,000 for the Michigan Humane Society by turning leftover pizza dough into dog treats called Buddy Bones.

“Having been such longtime supporters of the Michigan Humane Society’s programs, like Meet Your Best Friend at (Detroit) Zoo pet adoptions and the Mega March for Animals, we are so proud to see the community embrace Buddy Bones in a big way,” says Wesley Pikula, vice president of operations at Buddy’s Pizza.

Veterinarians from the society worked closely with Buddy’s to ensure they were using ingredients that were safe and healthy for pets. Grains, yeast, water and molasses are the primary ingredients.

“This is an ongoing partnership. We’re very excited to continue serving Detroiters – and their furry friends – while helping great local animals find homes,” Pikula says.  More than 11 locations in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties are selling the treats for a $2 donation.
