Brinks Gilson & Lione Attorney Contributes to New Book

ANN ARBOR – Lawrence G. Almeda, a shareholder in the Ann Arbor office of Brinks Gilson & Lione, is a contributing author to Asian Americans in Michigan – Voices from the Midwest, recently published by Wayne State University Press.

Almeda, of Canton, authored the chapter “Growing up in Michigan,” citing the challenges of growing up as a minority in suburban Detroit during the ’70s and ’80s, a time when the general population had a significant knowledge gap about Asian culture.

Almeda serves on the State Advisory Committee of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and is a board member of the Michigan Roundtable for Inclusion and Diversity.

He received his master of laws from The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, juris doctor from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Purdue University.
