Top Auto Experts to Speak at I-CAR Conference

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.—I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, today announced a powerful lineup of leaders in powertrain development, advanced technology, and new applications of materials for the 2014 I-CAR Conference on July 30 at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit.

 The full-day event opens with a session from keynote speaker Robert J. Fascetti, vice president of Powertrain Engineering at Ford Motor Co., who will offer his insights on upcoming efficiency challenges and on vehicle optimization. For over 25 years, Fascetti has been a leader in powertrain and product development at Ford. 

The first morning session will feature two other representatives from Ford, with the second morning session featuring experts from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Steel Market Development Institute, and Alcoa.

The keynote speaker for the afternoon is Lawrence D. Burns, Ph.D., professor of engineering practice at the University of Michigan and former vice president for R&D and Planning at General Motors. He will discuss reinventing the automobile. A member of the National Academy of Engineering, Dr. Burns is renowned in the field of vehicle development, with extensive knowledge of transportation systems, energy systems, connected and driverless vehicles, and related areas.

The second afternoon session will feature leaders in advanced electronics, communications, and safety from Robert Bosch LLC, the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, and SCG Management Consultants LLC. 

 Throughout the day the conference will be moderated by automotive enthusiast and host of Autoline Daily and Autoline This Week, John McElroy.
