Concours d'Elegance Car Show to Return to Plymouth

PLYMOUTH — With highlights that include the first Electric Cars, cars from the historic Great Race and Jet Age Convertibles, the Concours d’Elegance of America returns to St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan on July 28.

The Concours, a showing of some 300 classic and rare vehicles, will be spread out over the historic St. John’s grounds. In addition there are numerous associated events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday leading up to the grand presentation on Sunday.

This year’s event features an extensive range of automobiles, from the first electric cars, to the exotic cars that ran in the Great Race, as well as the 50th anniversary of the 1963 Split Window Corvette, the 50th Anniversary of the Porsche 911, Jet Age Convertibles, Vintage NASCARS and others. The total field is valued at well over 10 million dollars.

A portion of proceeds of the Concours dElegance of America at St. John’s is designated for the College for Creative Studies, Hospice of Michigan and Leader Dogs for the Blind.

The Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s on July 28 is open to the public and takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The $25 general admission includes free parking, shuttle and program book.

Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Celebration

July 25 at St. John’s Grande Ballroom

Each year, in conjunction with the Concours d’Elegance of America, the Automotive Hall of Fame holds its Annual Induction and Awards Dinner in the St. John’s Grande Ballroom. Call 313-240-4000 for more information.

RM Auctions-Preview

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 26 at St. John’s Grande Ballroom Parking Lot

Motoring Tour

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26

Departing from The Inn at St. John’s, classic autos will drive the countryside with a stop in Brighton at the Lingenfelter Collection which holds a variety of Corvettes, muscle cars and exotics. Several vehicles in the collection are among the rarest automobiles in the world, including a Bugatti Veyron, an Enzo Ferrari, and a Lamborghini Reventon. The tour will return to beautiful Historic Millrace Village in Northville for lunch. The buildings at the village will be open for touring. Classic cars and motorcycles, pre-1970, are welcome. Cost: $90 per vehicle and driver, $35 for each additional passenger.

VIP Tour – Private Collection Edition

9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26- Limited Availability

Depart from St. John’s by charter motor coach to tour Terry Adderley’s private auto collection. The excursion includes luncheon. Cost: $100 per person.

RM Auctions – Cars and Cocktails

6 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 26 at St. John’s Grande Ballroom

On Friday, visitors can preview select automotive paintings and sculptures in a special showing prior to the Concours show on Sunday. Also, RM Auctions will offer a preview of cars to be auctioned on Saturday.

Cost: $60 per person.

Downtown Plymouth’s Friday Night Music in the Air

7 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 26

Enjoy live music and view Concours-quality automobiles in Kellogg Park, located in the heart of Downtown Plymouth. Come early to enjoy dining at one of the over two-dozen eateries or shopping at the many unique locally owned businesses.

6th Annual Bumpers, Bikes and Bands

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 27 at Old Village Plymouth

Classic cars, hot rods, American and metric motorcycles and live music will cruise into Plymouth’s Old Village for the 6th annual Bumpers, Bikes and Bands event. This event has become one of the area’s most popular summer attractions and raises money for the Old Village Association.

Saturday Night Charity Gala

This is an evening for old and new friends to gather before the big day to enjoy cocktails and dinner. The the kick-off of the live auction will feature the 2013 original poster art by Francois Bruere.

City of Northville Concours Preview Party

3 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 27

Visit historic downtown Northville and check out the Concours-quality display of vintage automobiles, many of which are past Concours d’Elegance of America show cars. Dance the night away to swing music in Northville’s beautiful town square. Enjoy unique shopping and restaurants, too. Free shuttle to and from The Inn at St. John’s.
