Detroit Chinese Business Association International Golf Open

On Sept. 18, the Detroit Chinese Business Association hosted its 28th annual DCBA International Golf Outing, which this year was held at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion. Wine for the Spirit 2017

On Sept. 17, the Beaumont Foundation hosted its 22nd annual Wine for the Spirit fundraiser, which this year was held in the Via at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. More than 800 guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, select wines from around the world, a raffle, and tours of the new venue.

Best Western Premier Hotel in Southfield Grand Opening

Following a $12-million renovation, the owners of the state’s first Best Western Premier Hotel, located along Telegraph Road, south of I-696, in Southfield, held a grand opening celebration on Sept. 13. More than 400 guests toured ballroom, exhibition, and conference spaces; the Nomad Grill; and a selection of the hotel’s 206 rooms.

Detroit Economic Club New Leaders Luncheon 2017

On Sept. 13, the Detroit Economic Club hosted a luncheon at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in downtown Detroit, called Perspectives from Three New Michigan CEOs. More than 300 attendees heard remarks from Patti Poppe, president and CEO of CMS Energy Corp.; Joan Budden, president and CEO of Priority Health; and Wright Lassiter III, president and CEO of Henry Ford Health System. The lunch was moderated by R.J. King, editor of DBusiness magazine and DBusiness Daily News.

WeWork Grand Opening at 1001 Woodward Building

On Sept. 14, WeWork, which provides shared workspaces, community areas, and services to businesses and nonprofit organizations, held a grand opening event on three floors it occupies in the 1001 Woodward Building in downtown Detroit (WeWork Campus Martius). The company also has shared office space at 1449 Woodward (SW corner of Woodward and Clifford Street).
