Oakland County's Tech248 — an initiative that helps technology companies collaborate and attract, develop, and retain talent — held a meetup at the Planet Rock Climbing Gym in Madison Heights on April 14. Speakers included Brad Frederick, founder and CEO of Troy-based Media Genesis, and Nick Cocciolone, owner of Planet Rock, among others.
The University of Michigan's Taubman Institute hosted "An Evening of Art + Science" on April 21 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) to raise funds for its Emerging Scholars grants. Leading up to the event, contemporary artists and U-M physician-researchers were paired to explore the intersection of their work. The resulting paintings, sculptures, and jewelry were sold at the gala.
Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan celebrated its 23rd annual Women’s Power Breakfast on April 21 at Eastern Market's Shed 3. More than 640 female leaders gathered to help raise money for 1 million meals for hungry children across southeast Michigan.
