Around the world in a Hupmobile: On loan from the Crawford Museum in Ohio for display at the 2009 Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance, this Detroit-built 1911 Hupmobile was piloted by three American adventurers on an around-the-world journey of epic proportions from late 1910 to 1912.  The amazing adventure is chronicled in the book Three Men in a Hupp by James A. Ward

Today, although missing its hood and lights – taken years ago by souvenir seekers, the car remains completely original except for tires and a radiator hose.  The only repair on the trip was for a snapped axle in Japan that was performed in a pottery shop.

The Sirens of Chrome: The Enduring Allure of Auto Show Models, and its Author Margery Krevsky, will be autographing copies of her new book on Sunday, August 2 at the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance.  The Sirens of Chrome book celebrates the role played by auto show models to foster our enduring love affair with the automobile.

Models wearing vintage auto show clothing highlighted in the book, including the stunning “Chrome Girl”, will be featured at this year’s Mode du Concours and throughout the entire Concours weekend.

2009 Poster Artist Chosen

Posters have been created to commemorate the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance since the event’s inception in 1979 and have evolved over the years into prized works of art. Following in this tradition, U.K. artist Gary Whinn has been commissioned to create the Concours’ 30th Anniversary commemorative poster. It will be officially unveiled on Tuesday, July 28 at Meadow Brook Hall and available for purchase during the Concours weekend.
