Miller Canfield Names New Managing Director, Principals


Miller Canfield, a global law firm based in Detroit, has elected a new managing director and two new principal attorneys.

The firm elected litigation and dispute resolution attorney Amy M. Johnston to serve as managing director. Johnson, who co-leads the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution group, has more than 20 years of litigation and arbitration experience, having represented large and small  companies in  business, trade secret, anti-trust, environmental, oil and gas, construction, real estate, mass tort, contract and product liability matters.

Johnson, of Grosse Pointe Shores, is a graduate of University of Detroit Law School.

Newly elected principals include attorneys Jeffrey S. Aronoff, left, and James M. Crowley, who practice in the firm’s public finance group in Detroit. Aronoff has worked on challenging projects such as the restructuring and redevelopment of Cobo   Hall. He has worked extensively with municipalities and school districts, and has special expertise in airport finance and conduit financing for tax-exempt organizations and small manufacturers.

Aronoff, of Huntington Woods, is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School.


Miller Canfield Name New Managing Director, PrincipalsCrowley’s practice focuses on school finance, election and general school business law. He regularly serves as bond counsel, not counsel, underwriters’ counsel and disclosure counsel for public schools and other issuers. He has expertise in tax-exempt and taxable financing,  fixed and variable rate financing,  general obligation and revenue financing, school elections for bond proposals, operating tax proposals, and site sinking fund proposals. 

Crowley, of Birmingham, is also a graduate of Wayne State University Law School.

Troy’s Ross Mortgage Adds Vice President, Four Other Employees

Ross Mortgage Corp., a full-service residential mortgage lender headquartered in Troy, announced the appointment of Theresa Sprague as vice president of branch growth and retention. The firm has also added Jason Sprague and his team of loan officers, Jon DeKoninck, Denise Huettner, and Tim Donner.
