2103

Joe Gorz, D.O., a third-year family medicine resident at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac, has been named Resident of the Year by the Michigan Osteopathic Association.

The award is to recognize and honor outstanding osteopathic residents in the state who go above and beyond to bring a sense of pride to the profession by exhibiting the exemplary characteristics of an osteopathic physician.

“Dr. Gorz represents and practices all of the characteristics we look to instill in all of our residents, setting them up for successful careers,” said Dr. Mark Schury, director of the family medicine residency program at McLaren Oakland.

Following the completion of his residency next year, Gorz will enter a one-year fellowship program in hospice and palliative care in Chicago.

Gorz, of Clarkson, earned his undergraduate in human biology from Michigan State University and his medical degree from MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.
