Jo Shoesmith has been named chief creative officer of Campbell Ewald, part of the Interpublic Group, and Kevin Wertz, the president of Campbell Ewald, adds the title of chief executive officer. Shoesmith is the first female chief creative officer in Campbell Ewald’s 105-year history and also the first CCO to be located outside of the Detroit office.

Wertz has been running the agency since January, subsequent to the dismissal of the agency’s former CEO, Jim Palmer.

Shoesmith joined the agency last year as executive creative director from Leo Burnett Chicago where she was senior vice president creative director, working on such brands as Allstate and Hallmark. She will oversee creative for all of Campbell Ewald’s offices.

Shoesmith will continue to be based in Los Angeles; Wertz continues in Detroit, reflecting the agency’s philosophy of open architecture and choosing the best talent from across its three complementary locations.
