The Lake House Names New Executive Director

ST. CLAIR SHORES —The Lake House is hosting a reception in celebration of the non-profit’s third anniversary and to introduce David Dieter, its new executive director.

The reception from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 20, will be held on the patio at Fishbone’s located at 23722 Jefferson in St. Clair Shores. All Lake House members, volunteers, friends and members of the community are invited to attend.

Most recently, Dieter was the lead priest at Christ Episcopal Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. He has nearly 40 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations, including management, administration, operations, program development, and fundraising. While at Christ Episcopal Church, he conducted services and educational programs, coordinated and lead pastoral care ministries, lead significant fundraising efforts, and created a variety of support groups for children and adults, including groups which focused on grief, divorce, life transitions and Alzheimer caregivers.

Previously, Dieter has held positions as CEO at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Home/Canterbury on the Lake in Waterford; administrator at Bortz Healthcare facilities in West Bloomfield and Lake Orion; and director of development at Wesleyan Retirement Community in Denton, Md.

Dieter is a certified grief recovery specialist and holds a Doctor of Ministry from The Graduate Theological Foundation, Christ Church College, University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom, a Master of Divinity from The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Psychology from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Opened May 1, 2011, the mission of The Lake House is to address the social and emotional needs of those affected by cancer, including those in treatment, survivors, caretakers and the bereaved. Support groups, educational presentations, stress management programs and social activities are offered.
