Grape Expectations for Kids 2017

The Guidance Center hosted its seventh annual Grape Expectations for Kids wine pairing dinner on Sept. 28 at the Colony Club in Detroit. More than 270 guests raised $101,000 to support the agency's Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy Center, which helps children throughout Wayne County cope with abuse and trauma.

Sanders Chocolate and Ice Cream Shoppe Grand Opening

On Oct. 11, the Sanders Chocolate and Ice Cream Shoppe, located at the Morley Candy Makers corporate headquarters in Clinton Township, held a grand opening of its remodeled store. The renovation included two new waterfalls of real chocolate, a visible bakery, more marble countertops, 30 percent more room, and more indoor and outdoor seating.

KLA Laboratories Golf Outing

Dearborn-based KLA Laboratories hosted their annual golf outing on Sept. 11 to raise more than $60,000 for the Michigan Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Guests enjoyed a shotgun start, lunch on the course, dinner, a raffle, an auction, and awards.

DBusiness Breakfast Series with 2017 Class of 30 in Their Thirties

On Oct. 10, DBusiness magazine hosted a breakfast to honor the 2017 Class of 30 in Their Thirties at the Gem Theatre in downtown Detroit. The keynote speaker was Tony Michaels, president and CEO of The Parade Co. in Detroit, who addressed the business side of planning and operating America’s Thanksgiving Parade Presented by Art Van as well as the Ford Fireworks and other family-orientated events.

Roco Real Estate Raises Funds for the Ruth Ellis Center at The Morrie

On Sept. 28, more than 150 people attended a fundraiser for the Ruth Ellis Center, a youth social services agency in Highland Park. The event, hosted by Roco Real Estate in Bloomfield Hills, was held at The Morrie in downtown Royal Oak.
