DETROIT, March 31, 2011 — Texas de Brazil, a premier Brazilian steakhouse, will bring its critically acclaimed cuisine to Detroit when it opens to the public the first week of May. Located at 1000 Woodward Ave. inside the Compuware building, the 7,000 square-foot restaurant offers an extensive menu combining artful Southern Brazilian cuisine with the generous spirit of Texas.

A variety of grilled meats, all prepared in the traditional Brazilian method over an open flame and carved tableside by the restaurant’s authentically costumed Brazilian cowboys or “Gauchos” will be served for dinner service only.  Regular dinners include salad area, meats and side items for $39.99 per person; light dinners include salad area only for $24.99.  Texas de Brazil hours of operation are Monday –Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Fridays, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Lunch also will be offered beginning a few weeks following the opening. Those hoping to be one of the first to dine may make early reservations now by emailing detroitreservations@texasdebrazil.com.

In celebration of the opening, Texas de Brazil is offering special savings. For only $74 per couple, diners can enjoy two regular dinners, two desserts of the guests’ choice, non-alcoholic beverages and a bottle of champagne or wine.  The total cost is a savings of more than $55.  Tax and gratuity not included.

Upon arrival to Detroit’s first Texas de Brazil, guests will be treated to the restaurant’s sumptuous seasonal salad area, which includes appetizers, soups, salads and an assortment of gourmet cheeses.   They will then be invited to utilize the flip cards located at each seating area to begin their one-of-a-kind dining experience.  When patrons flip their card to green, a troop of gaucho-clad carvers will be signaled to begin serving the restaurant’s deliciously-seasoned meats from large sword-like skewers tableside, which are accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes, Brazilian cheese bread, and sweet-fried bananas.

Signature cocktails such as the Caipirinha compliment the flavors of each dining experience.  Alternatively, a bottle of wine selected by one of the restaurant’s in-house wine connoisseur’s extensive lists creates the perfect pairing. Guests also may indulge in one of Texas de Brazil’s many dessert selections and relax with an after-dinner drink or steaming espresso.

Salim Asrawi, chief operating officer of Texas de Brazil, said, “We are excited to share the true Brazilian experience with Detroit and look for this to be an incredibly well-received restaurant location.”
