The Detroit Regional Chamber urges you to take a moment to contact United States Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, on behalf of chamber member Delta Air Lines. The U.S. Department of Transportation is granting four flights into Haneda, Tokyo’s international airport, and Delta has applied for new rights to operate daily service into Tokyo from Detroit (as well as Seattle, Los Angeles and Honolulu).
Delta’s new service to Haneda will create direct and immediate economic benefits for the Detroit region and the State of Michigan. The Department of Transportation estimates up to $150 million in annual recurring economic benefits are generated for the affected community by a new transpacific route.
The new bilateral aviation agreement with Japan allows U.S. airline service at Haneda airport for the first time since 1978. Haneda is the largest airport in Japan and is highly preferred by Tokyo business travelers.
