DETROIT, April 21, 2009 – On Thursday, April 30, 2009, more than 100 music professionals, novices and invited panelists will share information and resources in an interactive exchange, INNOVATIONS::Detroit Music.Summit, hosted by the Arts League of Michigan at their newly opened Virgil H. Carr Cultural Arts Center, 311 E. Grand River, in downtown Detroit’s Harmonie Park district.

The full day of working sessions will link Detroit musical talent and entrepreneurs with national and regional music industry representatives for a full day of business development workshops, digital demonstrations, luncheon showcases and after-Summit networking.

Presenters include: Michael Whitenack, Disney Records; Toya Hankins, Project Producers; Steve Heath, SRO Artists; Dr. Ron Suarez, LoudFeed.com; Mike Clark, House4House; DJ Seoul, Detroit Techno Militia; Ted White, musician & instructor; and, Atty. Howard Hertz, entertainment law.

The Summit is open to all who are interested in advancement of a business platform for Detroit Music. Local performers and other music industry professionals, as well as students and music supporters, are invited to explore options for career opportunities, business and talent development. A limited number of registration scholarships are available.

Workshop input, evaluations and other data collected during this Summit will provide direction and foundation for an expanded INNOVATIONS::Detroit Music.Conference in Fall 2009. The long-term strategy is to integrate development of the local music sector with economic opportunity for Detroit.
