Lambert, Edwards & Associates (LE&A), a Michigan-based public relations firm, today announced William Nowling as partner and managing director of its Detroit team, where he will be responsible for leading the Detroit office, serving on the agency’s leadership team, and providing strategic counsel to clients.

Nowling has more than 20 years of public relations experience. Most recently, he served as senior executive for Finn Partners, where he led business development and strategic planning for the firm’s top brands.

“Bill has been a highly respected peer, formidable competitor, and even partner on projects in the past, and we’re thrilled to have someone with his talent and communications breadth leading our growing Detroit office and continue our momentum national,” says Jeffrey Lambert, CEO of LE&A. “His investment as a partner reflects our mutual long-term path to dominate the communications landscape in Detroit and key niche markets coast to coast.”

Additionally, he has experience in crisis communication. He served as spokesman and lead communication adviser for the City of Detroit’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy, where he was tasked with explaining the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Nowling earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in risk and crisis communication at Wayne State University.
