McLaren Macomb, an acute care hospital in Mount Clemens, today announced the appointment of Tim Vargas as chief operating officer.

Vargas replaces Chris Candela, now the chief executive officer of McLaren Lapeer.

“When looking to continue my career, McLaren Macomb proved to be a very appealing healthcare organization,” says Vargas. “A dynamic organization, this hospital has demonstrated a capacity to grow and expand its services while maintaining a level of care our patients have come to expect.”

Vargas began his career as a radiologist and CT technologist. After receiving his radiologic technologist degree, Vargas earned a Bachelor of Science in healthcare services and Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix. Most recently, he served as an administrator at Oakwood Healthcare (now Beaumont Health) in Dearborn.

“Tim brings the advantage of having spent his entire career in the healthcare industry, serving in several key leadership roles along the way,” says Tom Brisse, president and CEO of McLaren Macomb. “A forward thinker with a dedication to providing quality care, he will make an excellent addition to our hospital’s leadership team.”

As chief operating officer, Vargas will be part of McLaren Macomb’s executive team, providing administrative oversight and leadership to several of the hospital’s service lines and expansion projects, identifying and developing long-range planning, and supporting the hospital’s values and culture.
