NextEnergy Plans Connected Vehicle Event

NextEnergy has opened registration for the V2B Mashup, a one-day event bringing together leaders in both connected vehicle and connected building technology development to highlight and foster new business opportunities developing from the vehicle-to-building  space. The event will be held at NextEnergy in Detroit on Sept. 9.

Technologies under the V2B umbrella are those that connect vehicles with the built environment to provide end users with more control over their homes or commercial spaces. A few industry examples include energy, security and lighting and parking management, among others.

“As a result of our focus on both mobility and energy efficiency, NextEnergy has worked extensively with innovators working on connected vehicle and connected building technology," says Jean Redfield, president and CEO, NextEnergy. "We know there are many opportunities for two industries that in the past did not have much to do with each other — transportation and the built environment — to collaborate. We want to accelerate this emerging market by bringing them together to network, learn, and form non-traditional partnerships that can lead economic growth for Michigan.”

Gordon Feller, director, office of the EVP, Cisco is the featured opening keynote speaker. Feller, a published author, advises leaders on how advanced technologies enable leaders to solve complex problems — with a special focus on developing practical and forward-looking solutions where economics, technology, and sustainability intersect.

The event will also feature national industry experts who will provide insight about a diverse range of topics in a non-traditional format. Topics include an overview of V2B, new technologies and business propositions, a “Technology Whirlwind” with 60-second pitches from companies who are already offering V2B solutions, and panels focused on technology and commercial gaps.

Live demonstrations of innovative solutions will bring the emerging opportunities covered throughout the day’s discussions to life. NextEnergy, in collaboration with several strategic partners will showcase a V2B energy management system (both commercial and residential), connected/autonomous vehicle-to-parking structure technology and more.

Multiple networking opportunities, including a post-event reception with Techstars Mobility, are planned to encourage collaboration among participants representing thought leaders in management, marketing, strategy and R&D for working for a diverse set of companies including: automotive OEMs and suppliers, telematics suppliers, electric vehicle charging equipment suppliers, home and building automation solution providers, property development/management entities, utilities, technology providers, national labs and government and big data analysis suppliers.

The V2B Mashup is organized by NextEnergy with support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Clean Energy Roadmap Project.

The event is open to the public with limited seating. The cost to attend is $95 and includes breakfast, lunch and the post-event networking reception. For more information and to register visit
