Lutheran Social Services Adds New Leadership, Board Members


Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, a nonprofit organization in Detroit ,has added new leadership and board members. They are:

Jenny Cederstrom, CPA, is the new CFO. Previously, she served as CFO for the Judson Center, and in regional and divisional CFO positions for the American Red Cross. She also served as an associate at Plante & Moran. Cederstrom, of St. Clair Shores, earned an MBA from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Arts in business from Western Michigan University.

Daniel Soza, was named director of Neighborhood House. Previously, he served as senior outreach and expansion executive for the Saginaw area Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. Soza, of Saginaw, earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Michigan State University. He is a Saginaw resident.

Harry Vijayakumar, was promoted to vice president of  information technology. Previously, he was director of information technology for LSSM. Prior to that, he worked in information technology for more than 10 years for Henry Ford Health System. He also served in IT positions for McKesson Pharmacy Systems and Covansys. He has worked extensively on electronic medical records systems, solutions application, and technology infrastructure perspectives. Vijayakumarl, or Rochester, earned an engineering degree at the University of Madras in Chennai, India.

Stephen Rogers, of Hudson, promoted to site manager for Adrian Village, a low-income housing property owned and operated by Lutheran Social Services of Michigan. Rogers has worked for Adrian Village in a variety of capacities, starting in maintenance and working his way up to top management.  Rogers graduated from Hudson Area Schools, the Lenawee Vo-Tech Center and received certifications in basic electricity and basic building.

 The Rev. Niklaus C. Schillack, was hired by Lutheran Social Services of Michigan as director of church relations. Previously, Schillack served as pastor at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Walled Lake and Grace Lutheran Church in Belview, Minn. and Christ the King Lutheran Church church in Lapeer.

A resident of White Lake, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University, and a master's in divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, and a doctor of ministry in congregational mission and leadership from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.

Felicia White, a registered nurse, is the new director of nursing for MapleCreek, a senior living community in Grand Rapids. She last served as director of nursing for Heartland and the Laurels of Sandy Creek. She is a Grand Rapids resident with an associate degree in nursing from Grand Rapids Community College.

Matt Pedersen has been appointed board president. He works for multi-bank securities in Southfield and is a Birmingham resident. Other new board members include: Carol Goss, Sarah Prues Hecker, Randy Asmus, and Dan Carter.

Goss is a Detroit resident; she retired as CEO of the Skillman Foundation. Prues Hecker lives in Grosse Pointe and is owner of Prues Hecker LLC; Carter is an Ada resident and owns Dan Carter Advisors, a west Michigan CPA firm.
