Leon & Lulu on Tuesday will feature a variety of local food vendors to sample and sell, for its third installation of Made to Eat in Michigan, to benefit a longtime vendor of the popular lifestyle store in Clawson.
After discovering that Tara Grey, founder of vendor Gus & Grey was suffering from an incapacitating fall, Leon & Lulu decided to dedicate the event to helping her.
“The first ever Made to Eat in Michigan was a huge success last summer and grew exponentially when we hosted the event again in February,” says Mary Liz Curtin, co-owner of Leon & Lulu. “We love discovering new talent and sharing it with our customers who are so eager to support local artisans.”
Recovering from a shattered right ankle and a sprained left ankle, Grey cannot stand up and is sold out. Leon & Lulu plans to help her by pre-selling a special edition of Gus and Grey’s blackberry and blueberry mixture, “Out of a Jam,” at the event on Tuesday. While Gus and Grey jams retail for approximately $8 a jar, “Out of a Jam” will be sold for $20, with all proceeds benefiting Grey’s recovery.
Leon & Lulu is also creating a campaign for Grey called “Someone We Love is in a Jam.” Donations will be accepted online.
