DETROIT — The 10th annual General Motors Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series will continue this Friday with 38 Special, and Dennis DeYoung of Styx on July 24, between the Renaissance Center and the Detroit River.
“Ten years is a long time, and we really wanted this milestone year to be special,” says Claudia Killeen, General Motors Renaissance Center development manager. “Rockin’ on the Riverfront would not be possible without the thousands of fans who come out each year to the support the shows.”
Along with 38 Special, and DeYoung, this year’s concert series, which kicked off last Friday with a performance from The Doobie Brothers, features: Burton Cummings of The Guess Who, (July 31); Credence Clearwater Revisited, (Aug. 7); and Eddie Money, (Aug. 21), who was added to the lineup in May as an encore performance.
Admission to the concerts, which run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night, is free, and no tickets are necessary. Viewing space is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, but outside food, beverages, and coolers are not permitted.
Boaters on the Detroit River may also anchor near the riverfront to watch the shows from the water.
