The 18th annual Royal Oak-based Arts, Beats & Eats festival will feature more than 200 music acts, such as national artists: Cheap Trick, Salt-N-Pepa, The Guess Who, Neon Trees, and Kip Moore, on nine different stages from Sept. 4-7.
Located between Main and Center streets at Seventh Street, other scheduled national acts include Young the Giant, Beatlemania, Gin Blossoms, Puddle of Mudd, James Otto, and Lucy Angel. Local performers include Stewart Francke, Big Pappa & The Machine, Sean Forbes, Lori Flynn, Kaleido, and Your Generation in Concert featuring Fifty Amp Fuse.
Festival patrons will also have the opportunity to peruse original artwork at more than 135 artist booth spaces. In addition, in extension to its Think Link An Artist exhibit, the Detroit Institute of Arts will be the sponsor of artist demonstrations at the festival each day.
The fourth annual Deaf Arts Festival, will take place at Arts, Beats, & Eats, and feature the work of artists that are deaf and hard of hearing.
More than 50 Detroit-area restaurants will be represented at the festival, including: Café Muse, (Royal Oak); KouZina, (Royal Oak); Alexandria’s Mediterranean Cusine, (Novi); Salad Sensations, (Troy); Treat Dreams, (Ferndale); and a variety of barbecue options. ​Beaumont Hospital will sponsor Priority Health “Health Options, which provides festival guests with color-coded food designations at participating vendors, for those with dietary and health concerns such as low-carb, low-fat, gluten free, sugar free, and vegan.
