DETROIT – The Black United Fund of Michigan and McLaren Oakland Foundation have combined forces to announce a two day that will celebrate the diversity of classic car lovers — regardless of their age, race, or social background — who are passionate about automobiles and philanthropy.
The Classic Cruise Extravaganza Gala & Auction – the event featuring rare concours-quality classic muscle cars, hot rods, race cars, sports cars, and vintage and custom motorcycles – will take place Aug. 15, at the Detroit Golf Club.
The two-day experience will kick off the evening prior with the Young Professionals Crusin’ Business and Networking Party, on Aug. 14. The event will provide entertainment, food, music, and hot cars for young professionals in their 20s and 30s.
“For many decades Detroit has produced pieces of artwork on two and four wheels,” says Ken Donaldson, president and CEO of the Black United Fund of Michigan and chairman of the Classic Cruise Extravaganza. “These two unique, classy, elegant events taking place on the very impressive grounds of the historic Detroit Golf Club are must-see extravaganzas for car and motorcycle lovers of all social backgrounds.
Net proceeds from the Classic Cruise Extravaganza Gala & Auction will benefit the Black United Fund of Michigan and McLaren Oakland Foundations. The BUF of Michigan will make grants to three area non-profits – the Rhonda Walker Foundation, the Motown Museum, and the Spill the Honey Project – that work to bridge the gap between diverse communities which have a common interest. The McLaren Foundation will apply its proceeds portion to its new state-of-the-art emergency center that serves people in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

Both events will be produced by Midwest International Concours d’Elegance, a non-profit organization that founded and produced the former Concours d’Elegance at Cranbrook and the Detroit Festival of Speed and Style.
