Cooper Standard Opens New Technical Center in China

Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc. in Novi today opened its new Asia Pacific Technical Center in Shanghai, China. The company’s Asia Pacific headquarters will also relocate from Kunshan, China to the new Shanghai facility.

The new technical center and headquarters, with 55 employees, will provide local technical support with engineering and design capabilities to the entire Asia Pacific region customer base.

“The opening of this facility is the latest step in executing Cooper Standard’s profitable growth strategy,” said Jeffrey Edwards, chairman and CEO, Cooper Standard. “The Asia Pacific region represents the greatest growth in automotive production through 2020. The new facility expands Cooper Standard’s technical presence by providing additional engineering capabilities and support for our customers in the region and on a number of global platforms.”

In June 2014, the company opened a facility in Sremska, Serbia to manufacture sealing systems in the European region. Other recent expansions include sealing production in Aguascalientes, Mexico and fluid transfer and fuel and brake delivery systems in Fairview, Mich., both in the North American region.
