ROYAL OAK — The 10th annual Ride for Autism — a 60-mile ride from Southfield to Taylor to raise awareness and donations for Judson Center’s Autism Connections program — will be held Aug. 2.
The event will start with a pancake breakfast and biker registration from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Southfield Civic Center, where participants will receive an event T-shirt and pin.
Riders are scheduled to leave for their 60 mile ride at 10:30 a.m. and will meet up at Biker Bob’s Harley Davidson in Taylor for a post-ride celebration. The celebration will include lunch, raffle prizes, a meet and greet with actress Rachel Adams, the Ride for Autism’s ambassador, and a performance from the local Detroit cover band The Remedy.
Bike riding participants can register in advance at rideforautism.com or in person on the day of the event. Registration fees will be waived for active military members in uniform.
Children and adults with autism may register the day of the event at the Ride for Autism’s Heroes and Warriors registration booth from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The booth will be located outside of Biker Bob’s Harley Davidson in Taylor. A ceremony will take place at 1:15 p.m. for all registered participants who are present.
During the ceremony the autistic participants will be honored with a Nobel Warriors and Heroes medallion of recognition.
