Troy – Rehmann, Michigan’s fastest growing professional services firm, announces the addition of Daniel D. Roberts as Principal and Director of Governmental Investigations & Compliance for the firm’s Corporate Investigative Services (CIS) unit effective August 1. Roberts, who had been with the FBI since 1987, joins the firm’s CIS unit to lead the continuing development of the firm’s direct and subcontractor work with state and national government entities.

The addition of Roberts comes one year after Rehmann acquired Veritas Global to elevate its capabilities in the forensic accounting and investigative services arena.

“We are excited to have someone of Dan’s caliber return to Michigan and join our team. We see the area of governmental investigations as an opportunity for our firm and Dan will be instrumental in our work to capitalize on this potential area of growth,” asserts Greg Suhajda, president of Rehmann’s Corporate Investigative Services.

Most recently, Roberts was the Assistant Director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and now he is returning home to Michigan where he was a police officer before his FBI service.

“While there has been an abundance of news about people leaving the state of Michigan, the timing and the opportunity were just right for me to return. Rehmann is invested in developing a world-class investigative services unit that combines the collective savvy of top-notch accounting professionals with veterans of the Secret Service, the FBI and other intelligence entities. I’m proud to join this team and I look forward to helping the firm grow in its work with government-related investigations,” states Roberts.

Among other assignments, Roberts held high profile positions as Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the Salt Lake City Division’s Violent Crime, Organized Crime/Drug, Civil Rights and White Collar Crime/Public Corruption Programs. Roberts was promoted in May 2003 to Special Assistant in the Office of the Deputy Director, where he provided oversight for myriad research projects and special assignments. In June 2004, Roberts was appointed as Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Detroit Field Office, directing all FBI investigations in the state of Michigan.

In January 2007, Roberts was promoted to the position of Deputy Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC and was named Assistant Director in 2009. He completed his FBI career as the Assistant Director of the FBI’s Identification Division in July 2011.
