ORCHARD LAKE, MI – The Polish Mission of Orchard Lake Schools, in cooperation with the Chopin Foundation of the United States, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago and Moet Hennessy; the official distributer of Chopin Vodka in the United States Oakland MRI Providing An Accurate Picture of your Health cordially invite you to a performance by world-renowned concert pianist and winner of the 2010 National Chopin Piano Competition, Claire Huangci. The Chopin Evening Gala will take place Saturday, August 21 at 8 p.m. in the Shrine Chapel located at 3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake, Michigan (on the campus of Orchard Lake Schools). Tickets are $30 and include a wine and dessert reception at 5:00 p.m. in the Adam Cardinal Maida Library, as well as an art exhibit featuring the sculptures of prominent Polish artist, Jan Siuta. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Flood Relief Effort in Poland organized by Caritas Krakow under the supervision of Stanislaw Cardinal Dziwisz.
Huangci began playing piano at the young age of six. A year later, she was featured on Fox News as a child prodigy, with “the skills of a professional pianist.” Since then, Huangci has performed across the globe in many of the world’s greatest concert halls and performing art centers including: Carnegie/Zinkel Hall, Philadelphia Orchestra, China Philharmonic, Konzerthaus (Vienna), Mozarteum (Salzburg), Tonhalle (Zurich), Herkulessaal (Munich), Salle Cortot (Paris), and Gewandhaus (Frankfurt, Leipzig).
Huangci has won countless prestigious international awards, such as the 1999 World Piano Competition; 2003 Philadelphia Orchestra Competition; 2006 Kosciuszko Chopin International Piano Competition; 2006 Hamamatsu International Piano Competition; 2009 International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, Germany, and recently, first prize at the 2010 National Chopin Piano Competition of the United States.
