2010 Michigan Governor’s Race

U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, who represents Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District and is a gubernatorial candidate, kicked off an initiative on July 27 to try 100 different jobs in the state by election day. The first stop was the west side of Detroit, where he worked with Inland Pipe Rehabilitation to fix an aging sewer line. The process was straightforward: Hoekstra helped insert a fiberglass line into the sewer. Steam was then injected into the fiberglass line, which allowed it to expand to fit the cavity. The result was improved sewage flow at a cost-effective price. During his site visit, Hoekstra explains the jobs campaign and details his plans for turning around Michigan’s struggling economy.
