Travis W. Weber, chief legal counsel for former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, has joined Warner Norcross and Judd LLP. He will practice in the firm’s Southfield and Lansing offices.
Weber will join the firm’s government affairs practice group, helping clients navigate the complexities of state and government regulation. He concentrates his practice on drafting legislation, licensing and permitting work, legislative monitoring and analysis, campaign strategies and election law, procurement, economic development services, crisis management, lobbying services, and related areas.
Weber previously served as chief legal counsel to the governor, lieutenant governor, and executive staff, where he managed litigation for the executive office and served as liaison between the governor’s office and the attorney general. In this position, he provided counsel on issues including election and campaign finance matters; emergency financial management; lobby law and ethics compliance; construction of international trade crossings; tobacco, gaming, and liquor control issues; business regulation; labor policy; local government; and public finance.
Before working for the Snyder administration, Weber was deputy legal counsel and senior policy adviser to Jase Bolger and Kevin Cotter, both Republican speakers of the Michigan House of Representatives, when he counseled the Republican caucus on the Detroit bankruptcy. He was also a judicial clerk for the Hon. Rudy Lozano in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Indiana.

Weber is on the board of commissioners for the State Bar of Michigan, the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation board, and Northern Michigan University’s board.
Before earning his juris doctor degree from Valparaiso University Law in Indiana, Weber completed his bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University.
