Broder & Sachse Real Estate, a Birmingham-based development company, today announced the promotion of longtime leadership team member Lee Hurwitz to president.

Hurwitz has been with Broder & Sachse for more than 20 years, most recently serving as the chief investment officer. His responsibilities focused on the global and daily implementation of the company’s investment strategy and goals, as well as overseeing operations of new real estate acquisitions and developments, including The Scott at Brush Park. In his new role as president, Hurwitz will take on implementing strategic goals and objectives as the company embraces its new business model, focusing specifically on commercial real estate development.

“Lee has been an integral part of the Broder & Sachse team since 1996 and his expertise and insight have been essential to the growth of our company and our ability to take on unique and revolutionary projects,” says Richard Broder, CEO of Broder & Sachse. “I’m pleased to welcome Lee to this new role as we elevate our company’s profile in the development scene in Detroit.”

Hurwitz joined Broder & Sachse as an assistant property manager. He was a property manager from 1997-2000, and the company’s director of property management from 2000-2003.

A 1994 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison, Hurwitz holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a concentration in international business.

Founded in 1993, Broder & Sachse has been behind several of the most influential mixed-use properties in Detroit, including the Albert in Capitol Park, a historic renovation with residential units over retail, and the Scott at Brush Park, a $65 million, five-story mixed-use development with luxury amenities.
