Butzel Long to Host Cyber Security Program

1501

DETROIT — Butzel Long law firm will hold a webinar and complimentary program on cyber security on Feb. 18. The event will be the first in a series, with one being held each month this year.

Though few companies can efficiently operate without computers, mobile devices, or the networks to connect them, many professionals conduct their businesses without basic protections or the training critical to minimizing cyber intrusions.

“Having massive amounts of digital information at one’s fingertips is both a marvel and a recipe for disaster,” says Claudia Rast, attorney and shareholder at Butzel Long. “The reality and costs of the risks are becoming part of the daily news cycle, as cyber threats increase in scope and damage.”

Participants will gain insight into the world of cybersecurity through presentations by Rast; Scott Bailey, partner at N1 Discovery; and Stew Nelson, senior risk adviser at Kapnick Insurance Group, who will share their best practices, information on new detection tools, a roadmap for what to do when the inevitable happens, and the specific types of cyber liability protections that businesses should make part of their standard insurance portfolio.

“Individuals and businesses can achieve some level of protection and risk mitigation with a clear-eyed approach to the issues,” Rast says. “Taking a ‘if I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist’ approach will not work. Information sharing is a huge need across private business and the government.”

The event will be held from 7:15 – 9 a.m. at the Butzel Long office at 150 W. Jefferson, Suite 100 in Detroit. To register, visit butzel.com/event
