DETROIT — ProCare Health Plan Inc., a Detroit-based Health Maintenance Organization that offers health care coverage to Medicaid beneficiaries in Wayne County, has undergone a rebrand and will now be known as Harbor Health Plan. The plan is affiliated with the Detroit Medical Center.

The Harbor Health Plan products include Harbor Health (Medicaid HMO), formerly ProCare Health Plan and, newly added, Harbor MICHILD.  As part of its growth strategy, Harbor Health Plan will also be adding a Medicare Advantage product this year, officials say.

“We took this major step in 2012 with the acquisition of ProCare, now Harbor, to provide our members with the highest quality of healthcare, leveraging our affiliation with the DMC,” said Dr. Greg Berger, chief medical officer, Harbor Health Plan. “The addition of the MICHILD offering made strategic sense given our strong commitment to children and our affiliation with DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan.”
