DETROIT — The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix  and Comerica Bank announced the return of a Grand Prix tradition in Detroit – Free Prix Day.

Comerica Bank Free Prix Day activities will once again be featured at the Grand Prix on Friday, May 30. Thanks to Comerica Bank, fans will be able to enjoy the first day of on-track activities at this year’s Grand Prix free of charge, keeping alive a long-standing staple of Grand Prix events in the Motor City.

Grand Prix goers will be able to visit the paddock and garage areas at the event in addition to enjoying free admission to watch the day’s on-track activities, which include IndyCar Series practice, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practice and qualifying, Pirelli World Challenge Series practice and qualifying and SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Truck Series qualifying and first race of the weekend. In addition, live entertainment will be featured on the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage throughout the day and there will be plenty of activities and displays to enjoy in the Meijer Fan Zone.

“Free Prix Day has been a part of the Grand Prix in Detroit since the early days of the event and we want to thank Comerica Bank for helping us keep the tradition alive again this year,” said Bud Denker, chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. “What a great opportunity for fans of all ages to come down and experience all the terrific racing and exciting entertainment on Friday, May 30 at Comerica Bank Free Prix Day.”

For the second consecutive year, Comerica Bank is also helping to enrich the lives of some students in Detroit though their Free Prix Day partnership. Today, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship driver Katherine Legge, who will drive the DeltaWing Racing Cars machine in this year’s Grand Prix, visited Detroit and spoke to a group of nearly 100 students at the Detroit International Academy for Young Women – the only all-girls school in the Detroit Public Schools system. In addition to talking to the students about her personal experience in racing and the opportunities for women in motorsports, Legge also invited the young women to tour the Delta Wing garage when they visit Belle Isle to experience Comerica Bank Free Prix Day.
